Secondary Education Degree: A Unique Challenge

With a secondary education degree, you have two career path options: become a classroom teacher specializing in a particular subject area or, become an education manager or leader. 

Students in middle, junior high or high school have their own unique needs given their age levels. Aside from the training gained while earning a secondary education degree, it is the desire to help young individuals develop and mature into productive citizens that will make you an excellent teacher at this level.

Usually earned as a bachelor degree, secondary education degrees emphasize training on specific subject areas such as math, English or science. Completing your teaching degree will qualify you for the secondary education certification exam required by most states before employment. Career growth

Many who gain experience as teachers later take up additional courses or pursue higher education -- graduate, master, or a doctoral degree -- for advancement in the field. Their motivations vary from financial (receive higher pay) to preferring management or administration positions in schools. But these are people who have decided on careers in the field of education and are looking towards personal growth.
